The South Hill Educational Excellence Partnership (or SHEEP) began in 2016 and begins it’s 2018-2019 school year October 1. Donations and a grant from the Virginia United Methodist Conference fund the operational costs. SHEEP is a partnership between South Hill United Methodist Church and South Hill Elementary School to provide after-school assistance to fourth and fifth grade students identified and recommended by their teachers. The students arrive after school by school bus, Monday through Thursday. Lessons include homework help, supplemental learning exercises, and soft skills development. Every student that participated in SHEEP in each school year improved on test scores and attitude. Most participating students have completely passed SOL tests they did not before. Accolades have come from parents and teachers alike. Thank you for your support of this program. Volunteers, donations, and prayer support are always welcome. Our current greatest need is in securing additional loving volunteers, especially for a substitute list.
